It is generally advised that solar panels are cleaned at least once a year so they work at optimal efficiency, and clean panels look better on your home. Some manufacturers require professional cleaning to keep the warranty valid.

Washing panels can damage them if it is done wrong. We use purified water fed through a cleaning pole with a soft brush, not tap water, so the panels are cleaned gently and left without residue or smears.

Does washing damage solar panels?
It can, if it is done with the wrong water, chemicals or pressure. We use purified water and soft brushes, which clean gently and leave no residue.
Why not use tap water?
Tap water leaves mineral spots as it dries, which can reduce output and look streaky. Purified water dries clean.
How often should solar panels be cleaned?
At least once a year is generally advised. Panels under trees or near dusty roads may need it more often.
Will cleaning increase my output?
If dirt is the cause of the drop, cleaning restores what the dirt was blocking. If output is still low after a clean, it is worth asking your solar installer to check the system.
